DIY Exfoliator for dry skin

If you want glowing skin the best thing you can do is to exfoliate. Even if you have dry skin it’s a good idea. Gentle exfoliation can actually help you skin heal by removing dead skin cells. In this way you make room for new cells that can retain moisture better which gives you plump and glowing skin. I’m about to share my absolute favorite exfoliator. What I love about it is that it’s an effective exfoliator and it leaves your skin hydrated and soft for hours. Also it’s based on ingredients you probably have in your kitchen, so there is no need to go a n buy an fancy products. This beauty hack will save you time and money. Of course it’s also all natural, toxic free and sustainable. Are you ready?

½ dl of sunflower

½ of salt (or sugar)

  1. Mix the all ingredients to an even paste
  2. Massage your face with the exfoliator
  3. Rinse with luke warm water

You can replace sunflower oil with any oil you have at home. I prefer sunflower oil for it’s healing properties. (They’s actually done studies on this)  Olive oil is a good alternative, however it can get a bit sticky. Coconut oil is an effective option for very dry skin. The only issue I found is that if you use it frequently it can clog your bathroom plumbing after a few weeks. (This is especially important for those of you who live in colder climates). Naturally you can also use more exclusive carrier oils such as rosehip oil or moringa oil.

If you have sensitive skin and want to make the exfoliator gentler, try the following: Ground the salt or sugar in a mortar to make the crystals fine, before you mix it with the oil. The finer the crystals the more gentle your exfoliator will be.

Enjoy your DIY exfoliator!
